Living with Kidney Disease

I didn't really want this to be about recipes and food as much as I want it to be about the day to day living with my disease. Right now I'm in remission and I'm feeling great. I just got back from Vegas where I celebrated my birthday with friends and family. I had an amazing time. But there were times during my illness that I wasn't sure I wanted to go on. When I was first diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy (henceforth known as IGAN) I was sick. Really sick. The doctor put me on prednisone which made me feel even sicker. The effects of the drug are more helpful than harmful(so they say). Terrible things started to happen. My face puffed up, my hair fell out, my skin was so thin I couldn't hold anything with a sharp edge or my skin would rip open, I had one nerve left and everybody was on it, and I gained weight. But the worst symptom I had was this awful shaky feeling inside. It was difficult to do anything. With the prolonged use of prednisone I also became diabetic. My legs would not work. I laid on the bed for weeks with my faithful dog Lucky at my side. My husband had to haul me upstairs and throw me in the bathtub every couple of days because i could not walk on my own. Sometimes it would take me 7 hours just to prepare a meal
